Cornices, Valances and Top Treatments
Add the Crowning Touch with a Custom Top Treatment
Top treatments, such as cornices, valances and scarves, can complete a window treatment beautifully. Alone or as a design element, top treatments can balance out a room. Available in hundreds of fabrics and in a variety of shapes, top treatments can complement your décor, add an air of elegance to a room, and conceal window treatment hardware or wall imperfections.
One-of-a-Kind Top Treatment
Valances and cornices are similar; however, a valance is made with fabric while a cornice has a wooden frame. You can select from a variety of top treatments in different sizes and patterns.
Classic Interiors consultants will work with your design to ensure your complete satisfaction.
Unlimited Design Possibilities
Below are some of the more common top treatment styles:
- Cornice Box – A window cornice adds a strong architectural appeal to any room. You can choose a cornice box that is covered in fabric or wallpaper. Or you can choose one that is painted. Furthermore, we can design the cornice to match your existing molding. Pair your cornice with drapes, or use it to provide a more formal look. Let your mind run wild!
- Simple Valance – A simple valance can add color and softness or hide window treatment hardware. It is the most basic and casual of treatments. It can be simply a piece of fabric attached with clips, rings or pocket rod.
- Pleated Valance – A pleated valance is more traditional and formal than a simple valance. The box-pleated valance lands straight down over the window and usually attaches to the window with an L-shaped rod. This style is like a cornice, but it has softer edges.
- Swags & Cascades – Swags and cascades work well together to create a classic, formal look. You can drape a swag loosely over a decorative rod. For a bit more style, you can wind it over a tieback at each corner of a window frame. You can hang swags in many different ways. One of the most common is a simple style, where the swag drapes in the middle like a valance; the ends softly hang down on each side of the window. Both create a fashionable look.
